Billy Mehmet

Billy Mehmet (born 3 January 1984) is a professional football player who plays for Kedah FA in the Malaysia Premier League 2014. Born in London and of Irish and Turkish Cypriot descent, he has played for the Republic of Ireland U21 team.

Mehmet is a product of the West Ham United Academy. He was signed by the club at the age of eight and spent eleven years with West Ham United before transferring to the Scottish Premier League at the age of 19.

Mehmet spent 7 years in Scotland with Dunfermline Athletic and St Mirren. Mehmet has also played in the Turkish Super Lig with Gençlerbirliği S.K. and Samsunspor as well as spending 2 years in Australia, playing in the Hyundai A-League with Perth Glory. Mehmet has also played in the Thai Premier League with Bangkok Glass.

In late 2013, Mehmet signed for Malaysian Premier League club Kedah FA for the 2014 Malaysia Premier League season. He made an immediate impact for his new team, scoring six goals in his first four games and being awarded the club's Player of the Month award.
